Our Church

Covenant Presbyterian of Cochrane is a Reformed evangelical congregation rooted deeply in the historic Christian faith, the Scriptures, and in the Protestant Reformation. In particular, we place high value on the faithful ministry of the Word, the shepherding of the flock, reverential and joyful worship, and on gracious, godly fellowship and outreach.

History

We began meeting in 2021 under lockdown as a small group of families. As our numbers grew, we moved houses twice, outgrew a karate dojo space, and are now meeting at All Saints Anglican Church. We are grateful to the Lord for his sustaining grace and abundant provision, and we look forward to what Christ has in store for us.

Mission

Covenant Presbyterian Church exists for the Lord Jesus Christ, seeking to follow him wholeheartedly and make disciples in Cochrane, Alberta, Canada.

Doctrinal Distinctives

As an evangelical, Reformed church, we believe that the ancient creeds of Christianity and the historic confessions of the Protestant Reformation are faithful summaries of what the Bible teaches. In particular, our elders subscribe to the Westminster Confession of Faith and Catechisms as containing, in substance, the system of doctrine contained in the Scriptures. While church attendees are not required to subscribe to these documents, they provide a basis of unity, transparency, and accountability for our office-bearers, and are an invaluable teaching tool for the church.

Affiliation

In spring 2022, Covenant Presbyterian was blessed to become a mission church in the Communion of Reformed Evangelical Churches (CREC), serving alongside other like-minded churches in Knox Presbytery and throughout the world.
